Celebration and Awards Gala event features the Marlins’ Dan Jennings and Roasts Pedro Bragan November 29 at The Hyatt

We are pleased to announce that our first Celebration & Award Gala on Tuesday, November 29 at the Hyatt was a great success! The Foundation hosted nearly 200 generous sponsors and their guests, patrons and the Jacksonville sports media. The “Pedro Roast” was well received as media friends told stories, shared personal memories and thanked Pedro and his family for many years for bringing the best baseball in the world to their families and inspiring youth in NE FL.

Media roasting was offered up by Frank Fangie, Dan Hicken, Sam Kouvaris, David  Lamm, Greg Larson, Brent Martineau, Jack O’Brian, and Jeff Prosser along with J.P. Shadrick as MC.The interior “Bragan Field” mounds are visible reminders of days past as is the Bragan name now proudly emblazoned by the City of Jacksonville on the entrance of The Jacksonville Baseball Grounds.

Pedro was pleased to honor baseball luminary Dan Jenkins, a former minor league player and longtime scouting genius, who served in the front office of the Tampa Rays and the Miami Marlins, where he rose to the position of SVP and GM , then Field Manager. Currently, Jenkins is special assistant to the President for the Washington Nationals. Pedro closed the affair with a special thanks to his mother and wife, noting the vision of the foundation is to inspire and support better baseball in this region with grants, as well as to build his dream, the future Jacksonville Baseball Museum.
